CARITAS HOSPITAL established in 1962, is a gift of the Knanaya Catholic Archdiocese of Kottayam to the nation. It upholds the motto KENOTIC LOVE SAVES LIFE. What motivates the community to accept this formidable challenge is the mandate received from its Lord Jesus Christ, who wanted every human being to enjoy the fullness of joy and abundance of life. The Catholic health ministry is spiritually centered on holistic care that sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities. Caritas Hospital marks an important step in the evolution of health care in Central Kerala. Caritas Hospital has grown from a 50-bedded hospital to 655-bed strength hospital. Caritas is accredited by NABH since 2015 and is the first NABH accredited Hospital in Kottayam District. ISO 9001:2015 certified for quality management system and healthcare procedures. Over the years, Caritas has grown to become one of the best healthcare providers in Central Kerala with 34-plus clinics and departments. We have a well-equipped multi-organ transplantation centre (kidney, heart, lungs and liver). Caritas also stands apart for being one of the hospitals with the highest volume of patients in Central Kerala. Equipped with a major research centre, teaching institutions, Caritas Hospital pioneers procedures that save lives and alleviate pain and suffering, especially of those who cannot afford adequate treatment. Caritas Hospital Trust has been registered during 1995 as a Public Charitable Trust with Reg. No.510/IV/1995. The Ethics Committee of Caritas Hospital is accredited by NABH in 2019, under Ethics Committee Accreditation Programme and is the 2nd in the state of Kerala and first in Central Kerala to obtain the same. Caritas Hospital obtained NABH Nursing Excellence Certification in 2019 and is the first in Kottayam District to obtain the same. The department consists of four personnel and a team approach is followed by them with all department heads, both clinical and non-clinical, to guide the hospital in complying with standards of NABH Accreditation, NABH Nursing Excellence Certification, NABH Ethics Committee Accreditation and ISO 9001-2015 Certification.
